As a first step toward entering the road bike scene, POC is excited to introduce the Tempor helmet. The Tempor has been designed and engineered to fulfill the aerodynamic and safety demands for triathlon and time trial athletes. Designed together with the Swedish Olympic Time Trial Silver Medalist Gustav Larsson, POC Lab and aerodynamic specialists at Semcon, the goal was to deliver maximum performance and aerodynamics, while not sacrificing safety properties.

POC´s new conceptual approach to optimize aerodynamics and speed was to view the rider as one body mass, rather than isolating the head from the rest of the body. By doing so, the Tempor provides the rider with better peripheral vision for cyclists seated in the aero position, which also reduces eye fatigue and neck strain.

During the product development process, elaborate tests in a laboratory wind tunnel revealed that the two main friction points for most TT helmets are at the center of the forehead and on the athlete’s shoulders where it’s common to find wind eddies of standing air. POC’s engineers mitigated these issues by adding two ventilation points to the forehead area that move air though the helmet instead of forcing it around the riders head. These vents are multipurpose: aerodynamics and cooling.

• The helmet shape has been designed to work in unison with the rider’s body. This allows the rider to remain in a more natural position, which promises better visibility, less neck strain and a more comfortable racing position.
• The visor is polycarbonate and promises to be the lens of choice in most weather conditions.
• Along with safety, the aerodynamics and airflow was the major focus of POC’s when creating this helmet. Based on extensive testing we are convinced that we have created the fastest Triathlon / TT helmet to date.
